Starting with number 10: EminemMusic cashes in with 35.7 million followers as of this month. This may come as surprise since some of us (mostly our parents) have completely forgotten how Eminem completely took over the year 2010 with his album “Recovery.” This album dropped “Not Afraid,” “No Love,” “25 to Life,” and “Love the Way You Lie.” Eminem has been in the limelight due to a rap he released in September about his disagreement with President Trump’s policies. Eminem believes President Trump’s reprimand of the NFL players who kneel for the National Anthem was uncalled for, and he dedicated this rap to Colin Kaepernick. Could he be making a comeback? Beats me. I know I’m not the only one that channels their inner beast mode when “Not Afraid” comes on.
The ninth most subscribed YouTube channel goes to another artist: Ed Sheeran. Not needing much of an introduction, Sheeran has single-handedly changed the game when it comes to love songs. “Perfect” has infiltrated nearly every wedding first dance and has caused some major waterworks along the way. Sheeran’s major album “Divide” dropped in March 2017, delivering “Shape of You,” “Castle on the Hill,” and “Perfect.” “Perfect” reached number one in the US, Australia, and the UK. In 2018, “Divide” was named the best-selling album worldwide of 2017. Sheeran’s YouTube channel is heavy with his music videos and recent releases, but he also uses his platform to advocate for the charity he works with Drop to Drop. All 36.8 million followers are blessed with his music videos and love for helping others…what more could you want?
In eighth place, DudePerfect stands with 38.7 million followers. Five college roommates from Texas A&M University came together to make the Dude Perfect empire. The men of DudePerfect are Garrett Hilbert, Cody Jones, Tyler Toney, Coby Cotton, and Cory Cotton. DudePerfect climbed their way up the fame ladder by posting videos of attempting epic trick shots all throughout college. Their testosterone and boyish charm have attracted their 38.7 million subscribers into entering The DudePerfect kingdom. Their first videos were basketball shots over the fences of each other’s houses but quickly escalated to trick shots from Goodyear Blimps. They take up to two full days to master a trick and catch it on film. This explains for the Super Bowl-like celebrations when a trick is mastered. These boys are not the typical goofy boys on social media, they stand out from their competitors due to their strong-held Christian beliefs. They have been referred to the “Anti-Jackass,” and have received praise from Jimmy Kimmel, ABC News, and even Lebron James comments, “You guys are awesome.” Take a look at DudePerfect, and you won’t look away.
