How we run Instagram
Each Instagram format does a distinct job, and effective programs use them in sequence rather than in isolation. We use Reels for reach, discovery, and cultural relevance; Stories for clicks, urgency, polls, and offer codes; carousels for education, product detail, and before-and-after demonstration; collaboration posts for shared distribution; and Lives for launches and community moments. For most brands the structure runs from Reels for attention, to Stories for action, to carousels for education, to paid partnership ads for scale.
Instagram contains many creators with substantial audiences but limited commercial relevance, and follower totals are a weak predictor of outcome. We evaluate creators on average Reel views, saves and shares, Story click-through, comment quality, audience geography, category fit, prior sponsorship performance, and whether their visual style can be reused in paid media. Nano- and micro-creators are frequently prioritised — their niche authority tends to convert more reliably than the reach of a larger, less relevant account, particularly in fashion, beauty, travel, and lifestyle.
This is the single largest performance lever on Instagram. We test a range of creators organically, identify the posts that earn strong saves, shares, watch time, and clicks, secure usage rights, and boost the highest-performing content as partnership ads. From there we retarget viewers and site visitors and retain the winning creators on longer-term agreements.
