This podcast is a biweekly series that covers the educational ramblings of two female history buffs, Beckett Graham and Susan Vollenweider. According to producers, the History Chick’s goal is to celebrate the lives of women in history. For new listeners, the podcast wants to recognize influential women that aren’t mentioned in mainstream history. Some names mentioned include Mr.s Astor and Nellie Bly, two prominent women in the 19th century.

Launched in 2011, this female-led podcast has covered a large variety of female figures across all professions and time periods. The History Chicks earned a multitude of awards, including but not limited to the People’s Choice Podcast Award in Education as well as Mixcloud Online Radio Awards’ Best Talk Show in the Education category. Best friends Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman hosted this podcast for eight years before finally releasing their last show in February of 2022. Each week, these women produced new episodes while highlighting a new female figure with enlightening takes on society today. These figures were famous, unknown, and everything in between with their only similarity being their thought approaches to women’s issues. 

This podcast is perfect for listeners who are interested in pop culture, politics, and gender equity. The Los Angeles Magazine said that listening to this podcast is “…like eavesdropping on a witty gabfest that covers everything from midterm elections to female Viagra.” Call Your Girlfriend also appeared on Los Angeles Magazine’s Most Awesome Media Digestibles list.

Last but certainly not least on our top women podcasts is Girlboss Radio. Founded by Sophia Amoruso, the former CEO of Nasty Gal, kickstarted this female-led podcast in 2017. Girlboss Radio encourages all women to pursue their goals and persevere. Avery Francis, the current host of the Girlboss, interviews women who have found authentic success on a weekly basis. Francis hopes to empower women who want to achieve.

Ever since its public premiere, the podcast has grown immensely. With over 1.8 million followers on Instagram and 23 million current downloads, this show is not one to be overlooked.
