If you did not come out to Orlando Tech Week last week then you missed a lot. From hack nights, to lunch and learns, to a conference it was a jam packed week.
Monday was filled with a React Lunch and Learn to prepare those for the react hack night the next day. Then we attended the Tech Bridge job fair where we got to be next to companies like Hostdime and Carvana; wanting to hire people from development to office rolls. After that was the fantastic Ignite Orlando event, themed like the Pecha Kucha. The speakers had 15 seconds per slide with talks no longer than 5 min. It was all tech related and the speakers were funny and engaging. One of my favorite events of the week.
Tuesday was another packed day. I started with attending Tech Tours in the morning. We went to JetBlue first and they showed us their training and simulation procedures. I got to sit in a plane and go through a “mild” crash simulation, it was fun. We then went to Guidewell Innovation Center which was just amazing, then ended the day at Hostdime. There was a great Woman who Code break out meeting that went over the insanely low numbers of women in tech jobs/coding jobs and how to fix that. That night was the React Hack Night that Orlando Devs put on. There were over 80 people there to start hacking away with React. We got to see a Gif rating app, a Bernie workout app, and so many others.
Thursday night was the highlight for us here at NeoReach. The Orlando Tech Meetup where 4 companies got to demo a product they were making for their companies. We got to stand on stage and demo the admin platform in front of over 100 people. It was a crazy feeling to be on that stage!
Friday was the Future of Orlando conference and after party. There were some great panels talking about the food scene here in orlando, the design mind, sports and entertainment along with health tech.
Last week was a busy week for me, but the most inspiring week of the year.
