When most people think about VidCon, they usually think about YouTube stars. But in recent years, social media creators have expanded way beyond YouTube and made a name for themselves on platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and, of course, Vine. The 6-second social media has given birth to some of the Internet’s most viral trends (#Iridocyclitis, anyone?) and greatest creators.
In this post we had the pleasure to interview some of our favorite funny guys from Vine who are planning on attending. Here are their answers.
1) Brandon Calvillo (Comedian / Actor)
Brandon has a knack for creating hilarious content, so much so that he’s accumulated over 5.1 million vine followers over the past two years. When he’s not making vines, he’s usually writing up a great joke or brainstorming a scene that will tickle your funny bones. Oh, and he also has impeccable taste in music. Check him out!
Which piece of content of yours are you most proud of?
I did a Vine about a year ago called Post-Apocalyptic Couple. That’s probably my favorite because of the setting, the wardrobe, and it involves a guy getting shot (which is always hilarious).
What’s your favorite one or two-line joke?
“Why don’t orphans play baseball? They don’t know where home is”
What is your go-to random fact?
Banging your head against a wall burns 150 calories an hour. Oh, was the question about me? Um……I’m half Mexican and half Irish, so unfortunately I’m doomed to be an alcoholic
What do you recommend everyone should do every morning?
Don’t get out of your bed for another 30 minutes, lay in bed in that relaxed state and let your mind wander. You come up with a a lot of great thoughts when you’re at your most relaxed (that being said,don’t practice this technique if you have a job or kids: get up and make your kids Pop Tarts and send their ass’ to school).
What is the most clever song lyric you’ve heard?
“Look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh”. I too have looked at photographs and laughed before. Brilliant!
If your car honk could be any audio file, which one would it be?
Probably just the song “Believe” by Cher in its entirety. That way when I honk, both me and the person I’m honking at can put our differences behind us and dance together freely in the middle of the street.
Any particular VidCon events you plan to be featured in?
Not really. I’m not a big fan of conventions. I went to one when I was a 10 for WWE and The Undertaker didn’t sign my poster of him, so I’ve been bitter towards conventions ever since.
What could you talk about for hours?
Myself, but usually people start to clear out after about 5 minutes.
2) Josh Darnit (Comedian / Family Man / Coolest Dad on The Internet)
For most people, being a full-time dad is hard enough, let alone being an Internet celebrity. Not for Josh. Since Vine first launched in January 2013, he has created some of the funniest, cutest, and relatable six second sketches inspired by his daily adventures with his hilariously adorable family. And now, he’s taking on the land of YouTube with even better content! Needless to say, the Darnit household will always make you laugh.
Which piece of content of yours are you most proud of?
Probably the branded stop frame vine I made for the movie iOrigins. Worked on it for 3 days.
What’s your favorite one or two-line joke?
Knock knock. Who’s there? Interrupting cow. Interrupting co… MOOO!!
What do you recommend everyone should do every morning?
Use a tongue scraper. Especially you “close talkers”.
If your car honk could be any audio file, which one would it be?
“Smoke weed every day” followed by air horns.
Any particular VidCon events you plan to be featured in?
Panel on under-30 second videos. I’ll probably just pee myself and cry.
What could you talk about for hours?
Food. Also Logan Paul’s abs.
3) Alex Ernst (Comedian)
With close to 700k followers on Vine, Alex proves six second videos can be more than meets the eye. Everyday Alex is consistently exercising his comedic mind to make everyone across the interweb laugh via Vine, Twitter, Instagram… you name it. Check out his Twitter, “AlexErnst“.
Which piece of content of yours are you most proud of?
I’m proud of most of my content. But, the content I am most proud of is this Vine where I play a character that’s self-conscious about his lisp. I’m most proud of it because I like how the idea took out of the box thinking and those are the ideas I admire the most.
What do you recommend everyone should do every morning?
Don’t press the snooze button. I can’t take my own advice though, it’s really hard not to press the snooze button. I recommend you keep sleeping to be honest.

If your car honk could be any audio file, which would it be?
MP3 I would imagine, lol. It’s an audio file.
Any particular VidCon events you plan to be featured in?
No, I just came to have fun and hangout with my Internet homies!
What could you talk about for hours?
The early stages of YouTube.
4) Zane Hijazi (Comedian)
Just search “Zane & Heath” on Vine and prepare yourself for some explosive comedy. Zane’s wild-n-out characters will have you laughing up and down his profile. And the best part? This Vine sensation is taking his lively comedy to YouTube, where you can see him get goofy with other all-star Viners. Check out his last YouTube video “Viner Blind Taste Test”!
Which piece of content of yours are you most proud of?
I’m mainly proud of my first YouTube videos. The fact that I pushed myself to start, paid to rent out a restaurant, mostly wrote my sketch and got it done felt so good.
What is your go-to random fact?
When I was in 8th grade, I almost choked to death on a tampon wrapper. It wasn’t like I choked on it for a second, it was like a minute and half. It was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced. Here’s another detail… Ladies, what’s that tampon brand that has a really silky wrapper wrapped around it? Because that’s what it was. And everyone was laughing…while I was slowly dying.
What do you recommend everyone should do every morning?
Coffee.
Who’s your favorite YouTuber that you haven’t met?
Jimmy Tatro… the dude has some solid funny stuff. How he does it? I don’t even know.
What is the most clever song lyric you’ve heard?
I really really really really really really like you

If your car honk could be any audio file, which one would it be?
C’mon now…Instant Rap AirHorn no question. Just picture it right now..everyone in jammed traffic, everyone’s late for work, and everyone’s honking.
Any particular VidCon events you plan to be featured in?
All those afterparties, to be completely honest. I’ll be taking pictures and signing autographs at the bar.
What could you talk about for hours?
Other than my beauty and humbleness, my failed Tinder dates… as in, they always fell through. Like, they basically never happened.
5) J. Cyrus (Comedian / Actor / Rapper / Musician)
Jeff isn’t your average Vine guy. This quick witted, multi-talented gem offers his followers a dynamic Vine experience. In six seconds, Jeff throws out clever characters packed with punch lines that will have you rolling. But it doesn’t stop at comedy, Jeff doubles his talent as “J.Cyrus” an up and coming rapper with a fiery flow. Check out his Soundcloud J.Cyrus!

Definitely, “Rich Dad Discipline“.
